Room at the Table
Bixby Outreach Center is beginning a capital campaign to revitalize our existing building which will create a one stop resource shop for the amazing community we serve. We are so excited about this campaign and the new and improved programs we will be able to offer our community. Our newly renovated building will enable us to continue to serve the rising number of people struggling with hunger in our region.
Redesigned Self Select Pantry
The new pantry space has been designed as a client–choice pantry where guests choose their own food such as they would at a grocery store, rather than having bags of food pre-packaged for them by pantry staff and volunteers. We want to help people feel confident that they can make changes, and to provide opportunities for them to take advantage of services and programs to improve their lives.
Loading Dock & Cold Storage Room
Bixby Outreach Center receives food donations from a variety of sources. Many of these donors require a box truck to transport the donated products. The new renovation will include a loading dock to safely and efficiently unload these products. In addition to the dock, we have added a new cold storage room with generator to ensure all of our products exceed required safety standards.
Thrifty Threads Retail Store
Thrifty Threads has been an online only thrift store for over a year now. With this new renovation, we will be able to once again offer an in person retail location where we will sell upscale clothing to the public.
A new retail location will increase profits which directly benefit the Bixby Outreach Center.
Our food resources and contributors have kept pace with the increased demand for food assistance. However, one of our key tools can no longer maintain pace – our pantry. This growth has significantly strained our facility. Because our distribution space is so limited, we struggle to move all the food we receive through our facility quickly enough and in an environment that is safe for our volunteers and agency representatives. In order to continue to serve the rising number of people struggling with hunger, an expansion is necessary. A pantry expansion is vital for BOC to receive more donated food, have the necessary space to safely process the food we receive and distribute more food to people still struggling with hunger.
Capital Campaign Goal
The total cost of the project is $500,000. It includes all construction, equipment, technology upgrades, and furnishings. We are in the early stages of the campaign, but funds are already being raised. We are pleased to announce that every dollar you donate will be matched by Redeemer Church up to $150,000. This literally doubles the amount you give.
